NYC hotels

we are going to New York City for the U.S. Open in late August into early September. We will be at the open two of the days and then we'll have two days to explore, we have been to New York City before, but it has been a while. I think that we will be taking the train to flushing for the open. We would also like to visit them Morgan library and also the World Trade Center museum. We will probably try and catch a play at least one night. Any suggestions for hotels or a good area to stay thanks much.

We will be in New York City four or five nights. We will go to the US Tennis open two of the days and the other days we plan to visit the Morgan museum and also the World Trade Center memorial. Of course, we will visit other sites, we have been to New York City a few times, but it has been a while since we have been there. When we depart we will take the train to Tarrytown in the Hudson Valley area. What area or areas might you recommend that we stay and do you have any hotel recommendations? Thank you,

If you plan to go to the Open by subway, you will want to be on the #7 line and so either a hotel near Times Square or Grand Central will work, as well as getting to see a show. The Morgan is close to both Herald Square or the 6 line, also walkable to Grand Central. Easy access from either the West Side or the East Side to lower Manhattan for the 9/11 Museum and memorial.

I recommend Today's Tix app for theatre tickets. The Tony Awards are this Sunday and so some shows may close if they don't get any awards and some shows may extend or be a hotter ticket to get if they do really well. Some current hot shows are limited runs and will close in July regardless.

Are you connected to marshanansard3777? Because there is another thread with the exact same question, also started on June 4.

yes, I apologize. some how or another I couldn't get into this site awhile ago so then I started that one. I thought that I had resolved it and disconnected the other site so I posted on it and then realized too late that it was still connected. this is the one that I have had for years and want to use. so sorry for the mess up.

Would it be too inconvenient to find a hotel in Flushing? You'd be near the Open and close to many, many wonderful (Asian) places to eat.
And then you could take the train to Manhattan on non-tennis days......and I imagine that parking is a lot less pricey than in Manhattan. (Not sure if you will have a car, but o your other thread you mentioned going upstate after NYC...)

Is that a crazy idea? I'm asking because people ask me this question often,, since I live in Manhattan. I never know which hotels to recommend since I've rarely stayed in any here....but I know that there are a lot of new hotels in Flushing that I see when I go there to eat Chinese food... (I'd actually like to spend a couple of days in a Flushing hotel to gorge on the food for three meals a day!)

It seems the OP has re-posted under a more established Fodor's screen-name, "tidy":

Never mind, I found the orange triangle and have requested the help. Hope that I can get them merged and can also get the other account deleted. Sorry for this problem.
