NYC experts, need a little logistical help
We are going to the city in early June to see Gypsy; want to have dinner at Babbo, too, so the question is where to stay; tempted by some good deals in Soho, but am wondering if this is too much moving around. We are celebrating a birthday so want a fun, upscale hotel.
Opinions and suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Mary

I'm with Howard. It's difficult enough to enjoy dinner at a nicer restaurant before or after a Broadway show without it being some distance away.
We always stay in Midtown if we have show tickets. You just never know when you just can't find a taxi because it's raining, hot, cold, dinner time, show time...And, we prefer not to take the subway/buses when we're all dressed up.
Check out the Michelangelo hotel.
We saw Gypsy a few weeks ago and loved it! Everyone goes to see Bernadette Peters, but Tammy Blanchard, John Dossett and all the kids are magnificent too.

Thanks, everybody; I realized I typed this in haste and didn't give you enough info.; we will definitely eat in the theatre district before Gypsy (so excited it got such good reviews) and Babbo will be the previous night. Looking for an upscale, fun hotel so if someone has a favorite, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks again,
Mary

No personal experience but the Muse, the Michelangelo, the Library and the Mansfield sound good. At the Mansfield it sounds like the standard rooms are too small-must upgrade to superior or a suite is even better. The Inn at Irving Place sounds wonderful but may not be "fun" enough for you. Enjoy!
