NYC meaning Manhattan, I presume. ok, here we go: Mott going south from Canal, pass Bayard, there is a T-intersection with a small street - no idea how it is called. In this street the 2nd entrance on the left, pretty fancy looking - this is my favorite in Chinatown.

Staying in Manhattan-

Inexpensive Slap dash service,
Big Wong's
NY Noodletown

Dim Sum
Jing Fong
Godlen Unicorn

Calmer Atmosphere
Joe's Ginger-try the rice cakes.

If you want to go Queens, that's another story.

Down the steps to Wo Hop! 35 years after my first visit in college and they're still serving tea in a water glass.

Add my vote to Wo Hop for great cheap food.

If you are a lover of Beijing (Peking) Duck though and you're willing to splurge a little... I highly recommend Peking Duck House. There's one at 28 Mott and another one in mid-town.
