Depending on what you consider a great show, you'll have a tough time getting tickets for the big hits on such short notice, unless you are willing to spend hundreds of dollars per ticket. Obviously, the biggest hits are selling out!
Before we can make any recommendations, how about answering a couple simple questions:
1. Do want to see a musical or non-musical?
2. What shows have you seen?
If you've not be to the theater often, or not all, then there are lots of good shows to pick from.

If you want to see something new, tickets for the new Tina Turner musical are generally available, though it's hit or miss on weekends. Tootsie is great and usually available, as is Beetlejuice (the former is better than the latter); both are usually discounted during the week and may also be on weekends. Hades Town is not usually available, but if you can find a premium seat it's worth the splurge. There are also some amazing plays right now if you want a non-musical.
