I had reservations for the Millennium Hotel for December. I know it's in the WTC area. Is that a Marriott? I am unable to locate my confirmation # and need to call them to see what I can do about switching locales, if this one was damaged Thannk you.

The Millennium Hotel In the WTC area is a Hilton affiliate - and it was severely damaged - repairs will take over 6 months. Contact Hilton reservations to have you reservations changed.

One more thing - there are other Millennium Hotels in Manhttan that are in Midtown - so if your reservation is for one of the other locations - you are ok.

Is the Millennium OK. Last I heard, it might have to come down. You said that repairs are possible. I certainly hope so. Any word on Liberty Plaza?

UPDATE ON STATUS OF HILTON MILLENIUM HOTEL


Beverly Hills, Calif., September 14, 2001 Hilton Hotels Corporation today issued the following update on the status of the 561-room Hilton Millenium hotel it manages in lower Manhattan.

The building was evacuated safely following Tuesday's terrorist attack, with no injuries to guests or employees. The building is standing and New York Mayor Rudolph Guiliani at a press conference said that the building "is not unsafe," but noted that further tests for structural integrity are continuing. Numerous broken windows and likely smoke damage are reported.

The building remains closed until further notice, and the general area remains inaccessible to all but authorized individuals and organizations.

Was this the Vista Hotel in 1991?

No , The Hilton Millennium WAS NOT the Vista - The Marriott World Trade Center, which was totally destroyed, was formally the Vista

At article in the NY Times (Oct. 20) indicated the Millenium Hilton is structurally sound. The lower facade is damaged and some front windows are missing. Don't know, however, that it will reopen soon since it is in the "hot zone" and that area is closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffice.
