If you go on the weekends, most of the Downtown hotels have reasonable rates as they tend to cater to the business traveler during the week.

You might try the Marriott World Financial, the Millenium, and the Ritz Carlton.

Forgot to mention one other choice, The Club Quarters Hotel on Wall Street. On the weekends, they have really good rates.

Have no idea about rates, but I've stayed at the Millenium Hilton down there and loved it, stayed there several times, as a matter of fact.

Definitely look into the Millenium. It just reopened after being totally redone due to damage from 9/11. My guess is rooms will be reasonably priced while they regain their footing.

Tommy, I'm curious--do you know if they preserved the Frank Lloyd Wright style in their remodel? I thought it was very attractive, perhaps my favorite look of all the big chain hotels I've stayed in.

I'm not sure E. Here is link to a Newsday article about it, which makes it seems as though not much was preserved. It also mentions a discount on rooms but only through the end of the month.

Holiday Inn Wall Street could be a good choice if you've got some Holiday Inn points or other discounts. I stayed there a couple a months ago and it was an easy walk to ground zero.

Stay out of the resturant -- the most indifferent service in New York (and that's saying a lot)
