I'll ante up if we can stone Sir Paul for singing any of the following- Silly Love Songs, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Why Don't We Do It In the Road, The Long and Winding Road, Let 'Em In, The Dog Face Girl is Mine, Ebony and Ivory, Let It Be or Rocky Racoon. I'm sure I've missed a few.

Luke,
Let's see. Around 5000+ people missing or killed in the WTC, Pentagon and the airplanes. Paul McC wants to do a benefit for this tragedy and you want to stone him?
OK. Fine. Your mother must be really proud of you, so give her an extra can of Alpo for dinner tonight and make her tail wag.

No antiLuke, I think the point here is that Sir Paul, a very very wealthy man, can afford to donate a million or two of his own money instead of making his fans pay $2,500 per ticket to be graced with some of the sappiest musical crap written in the last 1/2 century. Hell, even Dr. Dre donated $1,000,000.

A thought here...how do we know that Sir Paul did not donate to the cause? He may have and we will never know it. Geez..if there are people out there willing to pay...why not? I don't see Sir Paul "forcing" anyone to buy these tickets. And to let you know..never have been a fan of his..and I know he does not need me to defend him either just tired of everyone putting someone else down because they don't like him or his music(?). Get a grip people..now can we get back to travel posts here?

no we can NOT get back to travel posts. not until the 'grim reaper' decides he's/she's had enough and pulls this from the site. if you don't like it don't read it or answer it.
no 'star' would pass up the opportunity for a little free publicity so it is doubtful pauly mac gave a dime, because we'd know about it.

I'm just a little tired of the celebrity culture, that's all. I'm a little jaded and wonder why egocentric people like McCartney and Seinfeld REALLY want to put on concerts. I found the Princess Diana pageant/funeral very maudlin. I remember how Cher used Sonny's funeral to talk about herself, only incidentally bringing up her ex-husband's life and times.

Oh no! They're draggin' The Who out of mothballs again? Puleeze!! What comeback concert is this, number 17? They should donate all proceeds from that pathetic "I call that a bargain" Nissan TV ad. John Entwistle would sell his mother for a few $$$. Don't expect those tightwads to give a dime.

When Paul was touring about 10 years ago, a local DJ went to the concert in a gigantic arena. On the air the following morning he said, "My God, I've been in the same room as a Beatle!"
Yep, the magic is still there. (Although I agree completely about some of those Wings songs -- ugh!)
