NY - Hamptons Traffic?
Has anyone been driving out to the Hamptons on Friday nights this summer? I'm hoping for the possibility that everyone else takes half days on Fridays during the summer! I can't head out early and don't know if there is a time after 6pm that it's possible to drive. If it's going to take a ridiculous amt of time, I'll wait until Sat am. Thanks for any help.

I drive out to the Hamptons just about every weekend, but almost always on late Wed or early Thursday.
My friends who leave after work on Friday report that it generally takes about 3 hours to go the 100 miles to Bridgehampton. I'd say 3-4 in the norm for that time of day on Friday.
Listen to 1010 and be patient ... it's not that bad.
(And when you get to two-lane 27, depending on your final destination, take shortcuts like Noyac Road.)

Thanks so much! I think I'm going to take the train and my husband will drive out Sat. am. I can normally stand the traffic but there's a party at 7:30pm and it's no fun to get there 3 hours after everyone starts drinking.
