Now that we have non-smoking sections in most restaurants...

...and even entire non-smoking establishments...when is the restaurant industry going to give me the option of a non-child section?

I will be floored the day the host(ess) says "And would you like the child-screaming section or non-child section?"

I am there!

I think you first need to establish that second-hand kids are hazardous to your health.

I don't think hazardous to your hearing will quite do it.

Christ, you people will whine about anything! I am 42, eat out 4 to 5 times per week in very nice restaurants (business) and can count on 1 hand the number of times I have had a disruption to my meal due to a child carrying on. Find something real to get upset about--like world hunger and our environment. This is just trivial nasty crap. And yes, before you say it, I will now ignore this thread.

overit,

speaking of "nasty crap", i ate at a restaurant the other day where a mother spent more time chasing her one year old around the restaurant than actually eating. he was constantly tripping up the waiters. she thought it was immensely cute, and from the look on her face, she expected everyone else to think the same. the last straw for me was when the kid decided to pull his diaper down in the middle of the restaurant. having glanced over at that immediate moment, let me tell you, "nasty crap" does not even begin do justice to the sight which caused me to lose my appetite.

some people. i mean, really.

no,I think that when adults go out to eat a nice dinner in the evening, after a child should be in bed, that they should be able to expect a quite adult conversation without someones little darling hanging over the back of the booth/chair/table and slobbering/jabbering/screaming.
That is why people get babysitters to go out to dinner,so they don't have to try to scream over the baby screaming.
