Northern Wisconsin Seafood restaurants

I'm making a spur of the moment trip this weekend and I'm looking for good places for whitefish, perch, or walleye.

Green Bay, Marinette or Door County.

Thanks!

Keith

Check www.chowhound.com. You may even want to post an inquiry on the site.

Well if Door County is your destination, I heartily recommend a fish boil. There are lots of places to do this, just ask around in the town that you end up in.

By the way I would not call any of your choices seafood, but you are on the right track for the cuisine of the area.

There are very few fish boils taking place in Door County this time of year. White Gull Inn in Fish Creek would be the best bet.

In the places you mention, you can almost bank on a Friday night fish fry being the speciality du jour in just about any restaurant/bar you happen on.

For a Friday night fish fry, I recommend the Sister Bay Bowl (in Sister Bay, of course).

Thanks for the tips!

I am off to see the area and watch the "splash" launch of the new Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw on Saturday.

I'd recommend the fish fry at Birminghams in Sturgeon Bay. Wear your jeans and hush puppies and grab a beer to go along with it. Breads and potatoes are home made. If you want to step up a notch, try the White Gull inn for fish..

k, I didn't see your post until today, but I had lunch at Birminghams on Friday. They don't serve fish at lunch but I had a good hamburger, fresh fries and fried cheese curds. The burger was 3/4 inch thick and served on white bread with grilled onions. The bartender was friendly and voluntered directions to photograph a nearby lighthouse.

Supper was perch at Sister bay Bowl. It was just the kind of place I was looking for. I was in the line when the dinning room opened at 5:30PM.

I had better perch at Dodge Inn in Marinette the following day. First time that I have ever ordered french fries and been asked "frozen or fresh?"

The people were quite friendly at all three places.

My photos of the launch of the USCGC Mackinaw are at http://www.mightymac.org/mackinawlaunch1.htm

Thanks again
