North Carolina Beaches

We have enough points to stay at a Marriott brand hotel this summer. We'd like to use it at a North Carolina beach. Any suggestions? We've heard great things about the Outer Banks, but there are no Marriotts that I can tell. Thanks.

There is a Marriott property in Carolina Beach--near Wilmington.

You are correct. There are no Marriotts on the Outer Banks. The property on Carolina Beach is a Marriott Courtyard.

There might be one at Wrightsville or in the town of Wilmington.

You may want to broaden your search to South Carolina too.

There are no Marriotts in either Wilmington or at Wrightsville Beach

www.marriott.com and input just a state and hit "find"

Please keep in mind most NC beaches are cottage/condo based places that tend to be more family-oriented. Hotels are more prominent in the Myrtle Beach (SC) area. I'm having a hard time even coming up w/a hotel on the beach, let alone a Marriott property.

Disappointingly, there are several big, new hotels on the beach in the Outer Banks. None is a Marriott though.

I assume you are referring to the Hilton Garden Inn in KH/SS?

Would the Residence Inn by Marriott qualify? The one at Wrightsville Beach is very clean and nice, though the manager can be a bit of a PITA. But I'd still go back, as it's right across a bridge from the beach.

Dukey - And the Hampton Inn on Pine Island. Caps off the 3 mile row of McMansions wonderfully. Not.

Thanks for the info. I was reading old reviews of Carolina Beach and it's kind of a mixed bag, but probably our best choice if we go that route. Thanks.

Actually would "you" recommend Wilmington (Wrightsville Beach) over Carolina Beach? Thanks

DaniQuast, many consider Wrightsville Beach to be one of the nicest on the Carolina coast. (Certainly the most expensive to stay at!

) We've stayed at the Residence Inn - Wrightsville three summers now.

I've been going to Carolina Beach for about 8 years (I live in NorCal). I find it very relaxing--but I'm in a beach house with friends. This is a very family friendly area.
