NOLA restaurants

My husband is taking me along on a business trip to New Orleans. Can anyone recommend
decent but not pricey restaurants in the CBD near Poydras and Carondolet? I would love some place that serves Cajun or Creole food and plainer stuff (I am a bit of a foodies but my husband likes very simple things liked grilled chicken or steak or a burger.)
Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm sure there must be something there, but right off hand I don't know of any good restaurant near there except Mandina's, and it isn't exactly close. You might try it, and perhaps Mother's.

Find "Honeymoon in NOLA" thread and there is a list of residents & activities. On Poydrus is "Mothers" - great "debrit" sandwiches for lunch. CBD is close enought to the Quarter to walk over for lunch. "Nawlin's Cafe" is good cajun from my recollection. Go to NOLA (an Emeril restaurant)for dinner. It is great, pretty casual and not outlandishly expensive. Hub needs to step outside the box for this trip! Have fun!

That would be "restaurants" not residents. Apologies.

Cobalt - it's not too close but worth a little walk.
