NJ/NY GTG -- October 22nd
This is to officially announce the NJ/NY GTG (Get To Gether) on Saturday, October 22nd.
Where: Paula at Rigoletto in Weehawken, NJ, 3706 Park Ave, Weehawken, 07086 - (201) 422-9500, http://lavacity.com/food_paula.php. Parking 1/2 block from the restaurant in a shopping center parking lot.
For those of you coming from NY (Midtown), here's a link to the NY Waterway. The Ferry leaves from Midtown (38th) to Port Imperial (Weehawken) every 20 minutes. Pls let us know if you require transportation from the Ferry terminal to the restaurant. http://www.nywaterway.com/portimperial_w38.html
When: Saturday, October 22nd
Time: 12 Noon until all the wine and limoncello has been consumed, and all the sharing of stories and adventures have been completed.
BYOB: This is a "bring your own" restaurant. Paula will be providing the wine glasses, and I have it from reliable sources that Budman will be bringing a variety of Budbrew. Everyone is welcomed to bring a bottle of their own "poison."
The Venue: Noon to about 1:30, mingle, sip wine, chit-chat, take pictures
, and eat hors d'oeuvres. Oh, before I forget, there will be a $2.00 entrance fee (somebody has to pay for the hors d'oeuvres). No politics -- they will be checked at the door.
Theme: The theme for this event will be "Shipwrecked." Come dressed as if you were on a cruise ship and got marooned on a deserted island with a bunch of Fodorites. Should make for some interesting photos!!
About 1:30 or so, order lunch from a specially prepared menu made up for our event. Paula's menus have been simply superb. Paula said she would be making here award winning Pumpkin Soup. Everyone will pay for his/her own luncheon selections, including tax/tip.
Since the restaurant will only accommodate 30-32 people, RSVP's will be requested.
Trish has volunteered to compile a list of attendees. Please drop her an e-mail if you would like to attend this grandiose event. [email protected]
Here are some photos from last May's event:

We're Teenyboppers at heart.
We picked the theme prior to his passing, but it will be a good tribute. We're looking forward to your showing up as Thirtsy Howell III and the misses as The Lovely. There will be no rolling on the floor caressing a wine bottle, though -- or maybe there will.
Have you made your flight reservations?

STW,
Depending on the day and time, we *may* be able to meet up w/you but planning may be tricky. I have to see my parents (who are divorced), want to see my 5yr old niece's soccer game Sun. noon-ish, my husband wants to visit his cousin in Central Jersey and we really want to hang in the city too!! We'll be flying up after work that Friday and heading back here on Monday early evening. As of right now, we're planning to stay at my brother's in Rockland Co. but may priceline a room for at least Fri. night in the city...

Pick another title, Budman..you are
getting me nervous as (Hopefully)
I will be just back from a Dalmatian
coast cruise!.
Assuming all goes well & I get back
safely pls. provide a list of acceptable Croatian wines for our soiree...under $10 of course! If
the Customs dogs are asleep maybe I can get some of their
cheese thru too!

We will not get into town until late Friday night the 29th. Well, I mean late as in around 7:30PM and I imagine we will not get downtown until around 9PM with luggage and traveling from Newark.
Flying Hooters Air out of Myrtle Beach for the first time. Cheaper than flying out of CHS.
My wonderful fabulous inlaws will be traveling with us! I'm so lucky as they are two of the most wonderful people!

I'm up for a party just any ole time so I will try to make it on Oct 22, and would LOVE to have anyone intown meet up the following weekend. I can recommend a few fun places to meet and greet.
Heck, come to think of it, I even have a backyard now (yup right in the city) so we could have a BBQ, and throw a few shrimp on the "barby".
Let me know what might work for everyone.

wantsomesun, great, love to have partiers. Send Trish an e-mail to get on her list (she's got a good list).
Seems like several Fodorites will be in town the following week for the marathon. You might want to start a GTG thread offering beer, spaghetti, and some other heavy carbs the night before the run.

Oh my, I didn't mean to start something, lol. I don't want to hijack THIS thread - come to the NY/NJ GTG!!!
However, I see wantsomesun started another for the week after for those of you who will miss the most "grandiose" event of the fall
Now...question... to go with my "Ginger" dress, should I dye my hair blonde???
