Nightclubbing in NYC for young/not so young

My daughter and I and going to NYC next month and are trying to figure out what to do late at night. We're both night owls, but she is 21 and I'm 40+. I know this may sound weird, but do you know of any nightclubs (music, comedy, dance, etc.) that might be fun for a young adult and a young-at-heart?

I just had to tell you my daughter and I are going to NYC 8-1--8-5 also. She is a 21 yr. old college student but I am a little older than you. We would like to know about some clubbing for her.

And we're both named Nancy! We're going the week after you -- otherwise it may have been fun to go out together. Does anyone out there have any ideas?

For clubs where you can see a band, when you get into town pick up a copy of the Village Voice. It's a free newspaper and comes out on Wednesdays. It lists the clubs and who's there for the upcoming week.

If you talking dance clubs, I'll have to leave that one to someone else.

There are many comedy clubs that you both would enjoy. Also, if you and your daughter like jazz, there are some great jazz clubs, and neither of you would feel out of place.
