Nice Sunday brunch in Houston?

I want to treat my MIL to a very nice Sunday brunch when I'm in Houston in a few weeks.

I did a search here and found only this, but it is from 1999. Does anyone know if the Adam's Mark still has this?

For an excellent Sunday champagne brunch, priced at $25 per person, you can't beat the Adam's Mark Hotel.

She lives near Westheimer/Galleria. So if there is someplace better/closer, I'm all ears! Also, I wouldn't mind driving somewhere for a view. (we have an excellent city golf course where I live that has a wonderful restaurant and is open to public. someplace like that would be great.)

Anyone?

Thanks!

Anyone?

(I tried to find the Adam's Mark in Houston and it looks like maybe it isn't even there anymore?!)

Still need a nice brunch place. Has anyone been to Bistro Calais?

Brennan's has a really good brunch, and also a nice patio. You'd probably need reservations to be sure you can sit on the patio. Also good is Backstreet Cafe. Ouisie's, too. And the Daily Review. Hugo's is great if she likes Mexican good. Also Mockingbird Grill. All these places are reasonably close to the Galleria area, and I think they all serve brunch on Sunday. Check out the reviews on www.b4-u-eat.com and see what sounds good to you. Then call and/or check out their websites for details. I don't know which weekend you're going to be in Houston, but remember that for Mother's Day, you will need to make reservations way in advance. Also, with graduations, weddings, etc. a lot of places may fill up fast, so be sure to make reservations asap.

Also check out The Houstonian and the Omni on the Park (at Riverway). Both just off Loop 610, beautiful settings and very close to the Galleria. Both used to have excellent Sunday's brunches, but I frankly haven't checked lately so I'd call or look at web site.

houston.citysearch.com is another good source. It lists these as the top 10 best brunch spots:

Bistro Calais French Cuisine
Palazzo's Trattoria River Oaks
Quattro at the Four Seasons Houston
Benjy's Restaurant
Dharma Cafe
Brennan's of Houston
Rainbow Lodge
Farrago
Baba Yega Restaurant
The Breakfast Klub

You can search online and see if any of these are your style. Rio Ranch is right near the area you're interested in; we had a good brunch there years ago. Also might check out Vargo's; it has pretty grounds, peacocks, etc. La Strada is also popular. Our favorite restaurant is Mark's, so they may offer something too.

Good luck, and have fun!
