nice restaurant near Swarthmore College?
I'll be in Philadelphia on a Tuesday night in early October, taking my "third daughter" (best friend's child) out to dinner.
She just started at Swarthmore, so probably can't suggest a place. I'll be staying the night near the airport, so someplace relatively close to the school would be best. Looking for somewhere nice, not too noisy, with good food of any type and budget.
Thanks!

Swarthmore is kind of isolated. It is half-way between Wilmington, DE and Philadelphia, PA.
There are tons of great restaurants in Philly, which is about a half hour away from Swathmore and about ten minutes from the airport. Wilmington has a terrrific restaurant in the Hotel Dupont.
About 20 minutes away from Swathmore is a restaurant called Crier in the Country. The food is not bad there.
I do not know if this helps.

I live in Swarthmore, and I wouldn't call it isolated. The best selection of restaurants is in Philadelphia, which is about half an hour from here; 15 minutes from your hotel. Try www.opentable.com - there are countless wonderful restaurants, and it might be fun to introduce your friend's child to the city. (Philadelphia is known for its many byo restaurants, so you can bring an excellent wine and save $ if that interests you). If you want to stay in the suburbs, the best close-by restaurant is Pace One (http://www.paceone.net/), about 20 minutes from here in the other direction - easy to get to, just out Route 1. Or, if you want to be even closer, an excellent Thai restaurant in Media (about 5-10 minutes away) is La Na. Here's a link to a blog referencing several Media restaurants: http://www.phillyblog.com/philly/bur...-media-pa.html

Tonight, my husband and I discovered this newly opened Thai BYOB located in Springfield, about 5 minutes from Swarthmore College:

Our meal was lovely and we look forward to returning soon.
