Newbie Question

Okay - at the risk of suffering a beatdown, can someone tell me how you are all coming up with some of these great emoticons?

I've seen the Fodors page that has some of them, but there are several great ones on here. Is there a universal emoticon site or something?

Also, I try incorporating ones into my messages (for example I know one of them is supposed to be a "D"), but when I type that into my message, it comes out as "D"

Help?

The "D" thing happens to me as well
same thing with "R"-double the (( ))
around the one letter e-cons and that should fix it.

Scarlett...
Please...please...color, bold AND italics? All I can do is CAPS for emphasis and that is really (c)rude. Won't you please tell not so newbies how to do the fancy font stuff??

< B > with no spaces gets you bold
< I > with no spaces gets you Italics
< red > with no spaces gets you red
and so on and so forth

but don't forget to "close" the color
after you've said what you want in color.
Just as Scarlett said
< red > Oh, My ! </ red >
but no spaces.

Fodors is providing a kind of shortcut to scripting HTML, which is the computer language used for the bold, colors, etc. To learn more, and to be able to do a little more on Fodors (I don't know how much they have enabled, but I have been able to use other colors using the correct tags) search "HTML tags" using a search engine. You'll be amazed at all the colors you can use when you put the correct HTML tag in your post. Good luck!

And don't forget to check out Fodor's Forum Help and FAQ: http://fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm

Lots of good info there, too.

FYI, most (all?) of the smileys are the same as those used by Yahoo Messenger; Yahoo frequently adds new ones.

Check out:

Yeah baby! \/
