New Yorkers Please Help Me Out....

Okay, i have narrowed my hotel selection for the days of July 31st to August 4th to the following hotels: Salisbury, Hotel Metro, and the Roosevelt Hotel. We are two adults and a 16 years old boy. PLEASE tell me which hotel would offer me the BEST location for sightseeing. It is our first time in NY and want to make it a memorable one. THANKS!

Hotel Metro? Is that the Metropolitan on Lexington Avenue at 51st Street (formerly the Loew's)? If so, that's a very convenient location in a nice area (compared to other midtown areas). There are zillions of restaurants just east of the Metropolitan on Third & Second Avenues, and there's a subway stop on the corner next to a coffee shop.

I can't picture the Roosevelt or Salisbury, so I can't comment on the location.

All are near public transpotation so if that is how you intend getting around choice is of little consequence.
You can walk to CEntral PArk, 5th Ave. Times Square and theater district from any of the hotels. Price could be the determining factor.

I'm quite fond of the Salisbury. It's across the road from Carnegie Hall, and within very easy walking distance of Times Square, the theater district, etc. There's a good deli/coffee shop down the street, and it's also easy to walk to Central Park and Fifth Avenue from there.

Susie: If the Hotel Metro is located on 35th Street, I'd recommend either the Salisbury or Roosevelt as better choices regarding location. Both also appear to be much more substantial hotels. Do a search on both hotels, there have been several recent threads on each.

Don't know anything about the hotels, but with a 16 year old boy, you DEFINITELY should go to the ESPN Zone down in Times Square. Great food and lots of fun.
