New York : Parker Meridien or Trump Tower..

Next September we will spend some days in New York to see the US Open tennis.
We search a modern, luxury and convenient Hotel.
Which hotel do you suggest me between the Parker Meridien and the Trump International Tower ?
Which is the distance by Taxi from these Hotels to the Flushing Meadows ?
Thanks

As far as convenience, there is not a huge difference as they are only a few blocks away. I would estimate that a taxi ride would be at least $30 plus toll and tip each way (just guessing based on the fact it is further than LGA and the traffic to the US Open, esp the quarterfinals to the end, gets pretty bad). The subway is more convenient - from either hotel you would just take a subway for about two stops to Times Sq, and switch to the 7 which goes to the US Open.

I'll leave it to others to comment on the hotels themselves.

There is no comparison between the Parker Meridien and the Trump. The Trump is a much nicer hotel and should be much more expensive. Le Parker Meridien is very nice hotel and has a larger pool (the Trump pool appears to be just a lap pool) but not in the same league in terms of luxury and service.

Taxis I agree would be about $30 each way. You might be better off having a private car service arranged since finding a taxi to come home may not be easy. I agree the simplest way to avoid heavy traffic is taking the subway.

I've never been able to figure out how Trump gets rated (occasionally, anyway) as highly as it does. It's not in the same league as the city's best luxury hotels. But neither is LeParker Meridien, which is more on the level of a Marriott.
For a well located modern hotel, I'd look into Mandarin Oriental's new place (though I know you limited your list to 2 places).

Traffic is horrible getting in and out of tennis stadium area. Don't bother hiring a car. Subway is by far the easiest, quickest way to get there and back.
