new york - marriott marquis or crowne plaza?

Would appreciate any input on these two hotels. Marriott is about $25/more night, but worth it if better property/location. any other suggestions for same area for under $300/night?

thanks!

Well since Crowne Plaza is one of the places mentioned in the recent bedbug "scandal", I'd say the Mariott. But I'd say that anyway as the Marquis has larger rooms and if you request and get a "view room" you will have an amazing Times Square view from wall to wall, floor to ceiling. I also like the ability to turn the full sized sofa around to face the windows and just watch. Recent reports also say they've finally vastly improved the elevator situation there, one of its worst flaws.

Another vote for the Marriot Marquis - a lovely hotel.

And yet another vote for the Marriott. Less than $300/night is good for it, but actually there are dozens of hotels in that area that would be less. Whether you'd like them better, I don't know.

The Michelangelo is a smaller hotel that's sometimes on offer for $199-250. The Rihga Royal is an all suite hotel that's changed hands from Marriott to an English co. It's in renovation and is offering special "winter rates" of $249 for some dates. It's about 10 blocks north of the Marriott, closer to Central Park. I've heard from people who've stayed during this renovation and they heard no noise and thought it a great bargain. The biggest inconvenience is no restaurant in the hotel now. These are just 2 options.

Thanks for the input. Always open to suggestions! The Michelangelo is great - had a wonderful stay there a few years ago and was definitely looking at it and the Rihga. However we'll be there early May and rates are well over $300 before taxes.
