New York Hotel for 3: Reasonable Price

My husband and I are going to New York City in September for a wedding. We would like to share a room with his sister, but would like a room with separate sleeping area for her and 2 bathrooms. Any idea for a hotel in the Theater District (or other) location for under $200 meeting this criteria?

No such thing in Midtown in September. You'll have to stay outside Manhattan for that price.

I would suggest two rooms on priceline. You may get something for under $200 per room for a Saturday night stay.

Two rooms plus two baths is pretty fancy for an economy Manhattn hotel. If you can survive wtih just one bath, you might try calling Murray Hill East Suites.

The Hotel Edison has a room called a "combo 2 bedroom" room, 1 bedroom with a queen bed and another bedroom with a twin - but only 1 bath room. Rate on the website is around $240, but if you have a AAA card and call or e-mail them directly you can get a reduced rate. http://www.edisonhotelnyc.com/index.asp

You might also want to try Radio City Apartments, they have a 2 Bedroom Apt With One Double Bed and Two Twin Beds for $275 - you would have to contact them about the number of bathrooms. http://www.radiocityapartments.com/index.cfm Neither the Edison or RCA are fancy - but they are clean and in this world of $300 and up hotel rooms in NYC, they are reasonable.

I don't even think you'll be able to get 2 decent rooms on Priceline for $100 each - but it's worth a try and you might want to go to www.betterbidding.com for some friendly advice before your bid.

The Affinia group of hotels shows their floor plans on their website so you can see the configuration of sleeping areas and baths. They offer 2 bedroom suites with 2 baths that must be reserved via e-mail at [email protected] This hotel chain has gone up in price over the past year, and those 2 bedroom/2 bath suites will be way, way over $200.

September is busy in NYC, so I wouldn't wait to secure your reservations. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

One other thought is to try the timeshare the Manhattan Club. They have some one bedroom apartments with a sofa bed in the living room and 2 bathrooms. There are a few websites where owners rent their apts.

There are 2 listings here

http://www.tug1.org/tugads/1-3dname2.html#ad40516

but the 1 for $200 only has 1 bathroom while the one with 2 baths is $275.

You could check the net for other websites.

The Salisbury hotel has 2 bed/2bath apts but they'll be more than $200.

The Bedford is also a good place. Their suites are more than $200, but there is a kitchenette and 2 couches that fold out into single beds in the living area. 2 dbls in the bedroom, but 1 BR. We love it because it's 2 blocks from Grand Central St. and 1 block from the Newark airoprt shuttle drop off for Grand Central St. They have a good web site. http://www.bedfordhotel.com/
