New York City weekend

My daughter (19) and I will be in New York for a Friday and Saturday night stay - we have been to the city before and seen the major sites. We have heard about shopping tours in the garment district but would have to join the tour after it's started (about 45 min)

We are planning on seeing a show and visiting Century 21....any other suggestions?

Alexander McQueen Exhibit at the Met. Go the very first thing in the morning as it gets very crowded. It is fantastic.

The Pompeii exhibit in Times Square was recently enjoyed by friends; I don't have a first hand account, however.

I'll second the Pompeii exhibit, a good way to spend a couple of hours and reasonably priced IMO. You might want to try Dafni's Greek Taverna on W. 42nd St. it's convenient to the exhibit.

We loved the food tour of Greenwich Village; you walk around and stop at cute little restaurants and bakeries to try different foods. We love that area. The China Town tour was fun too. Going to Serendipity for frozen hot chocolate or sundaes is a fun late night activity. We also like Central Park, the Top of the Rock, and the Metropolitan Museum, but I assume you've done those? The Tenement Museum is supposed to be interesting, but we haven't made it to that one yet.

We've been to Dafni and like it too.

And I'll second the Food Tours. They're marvelous. I'll also second the Tenement Museum; any of the tours there are great. If it's hot on the street, the Tenement Museum will be a furnace though.

Nice restaurant for lunch: The Boathouse in Central Park. Make a reservation!
