new york city restaurant for group

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for a group of 14 for dinner. Not too expensive and somewhere around the times square area. Tried Carmine's but they are booked. Anything like Carmines' would be great.

Italian cuisine suggestion:
Bond45 at:
www.bond45.com
154 W 45
(between 6& 7th)
212-265-0100 for groups
Personally have not dined there
but you might want to check it out.
If you are headed to the theatre, allow
enough time.

Tony's di Napoli is similar to Carmine's (red sauce Italian, large portions etc.)(some say better) and has a location on west 43 st. near TS.

John's pizzeria on west 44st. is another option (they serve other things besides pizza).

Cafe Un Deux Trois would work. French bistro.

Any of the ethnic restaurants on 8th or 9th would also work. Siam Inn is a Thai place I like on 8th & 51-52 st.

Great. I will check them out. I also read in here that Becco on 46th, Ruby Foo's, and Fresco by Scotto are very good and will try those too. Thanks for the help.

I've done a group dinner at this VERY PRETTY place
http://www.lamangeoire.com/ La Mangeoire -- they have a Provencal theme and the food is quite excellent. (I've been there two other times as a twosome and with a party of four). It is a nice change from Italian and not "heavy or stuffy" French. More Mediterranean. They post a menu on the website that is quite accurate.

From previous messages, I would recommend Tony DiNapoli's (if you're looking for something Carmines-like) or La Mangeoire. The latter is a really special place - you almost seem like you've been transported to Provence. I would avoid Becco - the last two times I ate there it was terrible.

Also to mention: Tony DiNapoli's food is served family-style so your group will have to share.

just thought I would let people know that we went to Tony's Di Napoli with our group and we had a wonderful time. Restaurant was packed and service was still excellent. Food was very good as was the wine. Definately recommend. We also stayed at the Marriot Renaissance and met all at the bar/lounge area there. What a wonderful place to meet. Directly overlooked times square with the best view. Created a great backdrop for our reunion.

Glad to hear it all worked out. Funny, I never think of the Renaissance as a Marriott. You've enlightened me.
