There are no tickets to the parade - except the VIP grandstand - it s a public event. If you mean the VIP Grandstand - that is by invitation only - the general public has no chance to get in - and it is only one small grandstand on the last block - right across from Macy's.
If you want to see it you just get to a good spot on the street- VERY early - and be prepared to stannd for quite a few hours. To get a good spot on the street right near Macy's you should plan on being there by about 6 am. If you are wiling to go for a spot much farther uptown (you will see the marchers and the balloons, but not the performances - you can get there around 7:30 or 8 am.
If you are coming to the city go the park next to Natural History the nigh before to watch the balloons blown up. (The crowds are hug for that too but it's a lot of fun.)
If you need a hotel you better get one now. this is one of th busiest and most expensive nights of the year - probably only New Year's Eve is worse.
