So glad you had a great time.

One word -The reason people line up to pay at the Met is because you can pay what you want. Yes, even 25 cents. I would guess that if you go to a kiosk you're paying $25/ticket or something like that. That's the "suggested" amount. But it is NOT mandatory and I've never payed it.

Thanks everyone. I do enjoy a good food tour and we were a bit sad that we didn't have time to sneak in some pizza this trip! I am always amazed how the list of things we didn't get to is as big as the list of things we did do!!

Flpab...the furry chairs at Baccarat were very cool!

Lovely report, and I was there last week! I really enjoyed the tree at Rockefeller Center and loved the windows (my favorite was the ones at Saks...). I hadn't done Christmas in NY in years, and it was wonderful. Glad to see you had a great time, as well...!

That Baccarat bar looks great--l love the black & white floor! I'm going back to New York City next summer. I'd love to stop in there for a glass of wine!

I lost my Tiffany bean necklace I bought on my first visit. Put it on before leaving for work about 6 weeks ago. Noticed it was gone around 10 that morning. My goal is to get a replacement while I'm in NYC. Unfortunately it costs way more today than when I bought mine

All the windows were really amazing! SeaF, do head to the bar at Baccarat....totally worth it. It is a gorgeous hotel and the bar is truly great eye candy!

Good luck with your Tiffany necklace. i hate to lose things like that....so easy to miss a clasp or lose an earring back and then the earring!!

Hi Denisea,

Great trip report. I'll be bookmarking as I am hoping to convince Mr. Wonderful that we should go to New York next December. I bought a big new winter coat for a trip to Paris and Christmas Markets early this month that is begging to be taken on another trip.

Tom...Baccarat should be on your list! You are welcome!

Scootoir, good luck with Mr Wonderful. I think you will make a strong argument for NYC. Tons of fun and definitely something for everyone.

Thanks for this really fun read! Love that you worked in some quality shopping (even over a relatively quick visit) and I can totally relate to the feeling of needing an IV after sharing a sandwich at Katz's! I also enjoyed your thoughts on the Jacqueline de Ribes exhibit - I loved it too. If you haven't already been, you should put Eataly or one of the newer style New York foodhalls on your itinerary for your next visit - I think you'd enjoy!

No, thank you everyone.

I actually said to my husband as we walked past Eataly for the second time on the trip (and probably the 10th time in my life)..."I can't believe I have not gone in there yet"! I am always on my way somewhere else when i walk past! I heard Anthony Bourdain is opening some kind of food hall, as well. I promise to go next time I am in NYC.

Fabulous trip report, denisea! Thank you so much. And lovely photos, too. Your husband looks like Chris Martin! (coldplay) What a gorgeous couple.
I'm putting several things on my list for my trip next week, including afternoon tea at Baccarat!
Thanks again

A couple of things about Eataly. The have an orange rustico bread that is one of the best breads I have tasted.

BUT

If you want to go old-fashioned Italian provision stores

Rafetto's-store made pasta cut to your size on a machine that was obsolete 50 years ago.

Di Palo-great, great Italian meats and cheeses

Russo's-store made mozzarella

Veniero's- established 1894-great pastries

And then there is Arthur Avenue in the Bronx and a whole slew of bread and pastries in Brooklyn.

Way, way out of the way is Defonte's in Red Hook, that make sandwiches that taste like old Brooklyn including pepper and egg, potato and egg, and the great parms.
