New York City..... 2nd trip.... now he's 18!

Tradition.... started out with each of my children that the first time they were "allowed" to do a NYC trip was when they turned 11. It has worked out GREAT! 2 of my 4 have passed the mark, enjoyed the trip and are telling the second two all about it....

So now, I'm ready again, and my oldest is 18. New tradition! 2nd trip will be at 18....

Yes, it's a different trip than the 11th.

Tell me how, tell me what you would do, where you would go, what you would see...

Not that they have super clear memories of the first trip. We did a show, we did the ESB, TOTR, SOL, CP, WTC, (one before, one after) so we could and WILL touch on those again, but now, I have an 18 yr old son... he's ready for pre-adult stuff... I need recommendations!

One of his requests is to just hang, walk around, shop, see.... I can do that... one of my requests is a show, something Broadway, something memorable, something lasting... we both agree we want to do what the other wants.

Give me some ideas ....

TIA!

Go to some of the museums. Let him look in the guidebooks and pick what he is interested in. There are zillions of museums. Many have nothing to do with art.

First welcome back to NY!

Definitely make sure to check out Brooklyn NY! The Brooklyn Bridge, Prospect Park, Grimaldi's Pizza are just some of the highlights.

Also check out the beautiful Cloisters: http://www.metmuseum.org/Works_Of_Ar...ment.asp?dep=7

For a free attraction take the Staten Island ferry, which gives passengers a great skyline view of Manhattan.

For a real detailed NY answer...you might want to check out this New York based travel blog:

A flying trapeze lesson. My son LOVED it. http://newyork.trapezeschool.com/

Visit exterior locations from favorite movies or tv shows. Or check to see where filming is taking place in the city when you're there, and hang out and watch.

Yankees game (or Mets game) or some other sporting event.

Daily Show or Colbert show tickets. (Free, but not easy to get.)
