New Years in New Orleans
My wife, 18 yr. old daughter and myself will be traveling to N.O. after Christmas and will spend New Years there. We would greatly appreciate tips on places to stay for 3 or 4 nights up to and including New Years Eve. We are thinking about a B&B or small hotel so any suggestions among the many in the area would be appreciated. Also, since we are traveling with our daughter we don't wish to be in the middle of the nightlife on Bourbon Street but still want to be in walking distance to the French Quarter. Budget would be under $250/night if possible.
ps: last time I was in N.O. I stayed at the LeMeridient, very nice place but I can't find it listed any longer. Is it gone?

I'm up river here in Baton Rouge but was wondering about Le Richelieu. Though I haven't stayed there, I've always heard wonderful things about it. Since it is a smaller property and on the edge of the Quarter, this may be of interest to you. I know that Paul McCartney always stayed there when Linda was alive - must be a special place. Any local comment??

Try either La Maison Marigny (on the quiet end of Bourbon Street) or B&W Courtyards in the Faubourg Marigny. They both get fabulous reviews and I can't imagine better places to stay than either of them.

We stayed at the Richelieu last month and enjoyed it. Our room was not huge, but nicely furnished.
The pool is small but in a pretty courtyard.
For years we have stayed at the Provincial (still our favorite) which is just a block or two up Chartres from the Richelieu.
I think you would enjoy either.
