New San Diego Gaslamp Hilton?

I posted a note elsewhere but thought I would start a new thread and it might get more answers. Has anyone stayed at the new Hilton Gaslamp Quarters in SD? I know it is less than a year old so is it totally done? How is the pool area? Any other info would sure help me decide if we book there or go back to the Marriott Marina. I need to book soon.

Don't know the answer to your question but would like to. We are going there in September for a conference at the convention center and that might be good.

Lynn, You might find San Diego Sam's e-mail address on some of these posts and ask him. He seems to know a lot about the downtown area.

I would like to help you with this but the only thing I can tell you about this Hilton is that it's location is on the downtown side of the street whereas the Marriott and Hyatt are on the bay side. If you have stayed at the Marriott you know that there is a nice boardwalk along the bay. I walked by the Hilton last year on its located along side the downtown residential areas that may or may not appeal to you. Have you tried the Hyatt that is next to the Mariott? That is a very nice hotel. Sorry that I don't know more about the Hilton.

Can not offer my opinion - but we just made reservations for this upcoming weekend for $135/night. I will post next week and let you know how it is!

We were across the street in January and thought it loooked really nice. Didn't go in so I can't tell you about what they offer or the pool area, etc.

We were just notified that we have been bumped from the Marriott to the Hilton in July. My wife is attending a conference with me and spends most of her time by the pool. She is worried about how their pool area is. I guess the one at marriott is very nice. Can anyone reassure her that this will be fine too?? IT WOULD MAKE LIFE MUCH NICER HERE RIGHT NOW! ha

This info may be coming a bit late but we just returned from the Hilton. The rooms were great and the restaurant was very good but the pool area is pretty dull. It wasn't very large at all and a limited number of chairs. There is a hot tub and small exercise room. Great location if you are visiting Gaslamp or attending a function at the convention center.
