New restaurants and activities in NYC?

Going to NYC for our annual after-Christmas excursion. We want to do something different and eat somewhere new. What's new in the Big Apple.

Any particular neighbohoods or types of food? Any particular interests? There's always some new and different exhibit in the various museums (the MoMA Buahaus is great).

How do know what you have done, to determine what is new?

You should check Time Out NY and the Village Voice to see what is new for you and what you would like.

Get a New York Magazine, their info is usually very current on restaurants and things to do.

Also check out Eater.com particularly the new york edition which oftentimes lists new restaurant listings.

My colleagues really like a place called Pianodue, which is on West 51st. Don't believe it's cheap.

I'm a big fan of The Little Owl on Bedford Street, though it isn't new.

From what I understand, Brooklyn may be surpassing Manhattan for exciting new places.

While it's not the best time of year for it, if you haven't visited the High Line, that's sure new http://www.thehighline.org/ and a lot of new restaurants (and buildings) in the area. The Standard Grill in the Standard Hotel is right near it. In addition to the good website recos you got above, I find urbanddaddy.com has some young, hip info.

We enjoyed the Titanic artifacts exhibit at the Discovery Times Square place last weekend. We got half priced tickets on goldstar.com (free membership).
