Are you going to ride the streetcar more than 4 times in a day?
The one day pass is $5. The single ride fare is $1.25.

From Cafe du Monde head west to Canal Street which is the west edge of the FQ. There is also a newer streetcar that runns on Canal Street.
Many of the restaurants post a menu in the front window. Plenty of good Creole food in the French Quarter

I've been researching an upcoming trip to New Orleans myself. My understanding is that the St. Charles streetcar route in under construction, and you will have to take a bus from downtown to Louisiana, where you can get on the street car.
Not sure when your trip is, folks have said the construction should be finished by the Super Bowl.
