We're going to be in New Orleans next week (June 16-20) and we're wondering if we'll still be able to get fresh local seafood in the aftermath of the oil spill.
Also, we're staying at the Le Richelieu in the French Quarter. Will it be safe to walk from a restaurant or bar back to our hotel after dark?

Yes, you'll be able to get seafood, although it will be more expensive than normal. Almost all of southwestern Louisiana is open for fishing, shrimping, and crabbing, and the waters over there are just as good as the delta. Mmmmm. Enjoy!

Le Richelieu is in a safe spot in the Lower Quarter. It's close to everything and definitely walkable at night.

I hope I am not to late. I just returned from New Orleans. The food is great. It might be more money. I would go to, Mr. Bees. It is on the corner of Royal. Excellent food more upscale. Acme Oyster house remains a favorite with long lines. It is nearly impossible to get a bad meal in New Orleans. Have fun and BRING and umbrella. Hot hot hot and downpours in the p.m for a short while.

There are some shortages of oysters, it might be hit and miss, but for the most part the menus are not affected.
