Afternoon/evening at Sea World or San Diego Zoo?
If we get to Sea World or the zoo at approx. 4 p.m. in August, will we have enough time to see the different shows and enjoy the experience? We are 2 adults only.

Maybe.
I doubt you'll fit in all the shows as there are 5 or more. It also depends on the day you go as the park may close at 11pm or 9pm.
Look at the schedule before you go to check what's on and when to see if you can make the shows you wish to see.

You do know that if you buy a one day ticket online you get a second visit free don't you?

back in the days..we had a good friend that swam with the whales and we were allowed in the park after dark and the noises all those gorgeous creatures make vs. during the day is amazing.
I say Sea World..

In case you'd like to check out the San Diego Zoo, they are open evenings June 26 thru September 6 from 3 pm to 9 pm.

Zoo opens at 9:00 a.m. The evening show at the Zoo is pretty lame-mainly a conservation show re: endangered birds, media etc. Other than that-it's the same animals. So go to the Zoo early at 9:00-12:00. Then head over to Sea World and stay until 11:00 p.m.

Yes, if you are 2 adults there will definitely be enuf time for the zoo. The zoo only takes 2 hours. It's not as large as it may sound. What me and my friends did is that we paid for the ride to go up and we walked back down. We however didn't make other plans for the day.. so we wasted our time when we were done at the zoo.

I guess you could do the zoo in 35 minutes, then head over to Sea World....."Enjoy a 35-minute tour on a double-decked bus covering about 75 percent of the San Diego Zoo." Just kidding, I'm with ksucat, you need at LEAST 4 hours, unless you move very fast and don't actually stop at any of the exhibits. The Siamangs and Chimpanzees alone could take 1/2 hour.

When we go to the SD Zoo we rarely stay more than two hours, but . . . we live less thamn a 30-minute walk away, have annual Zoo passes, and go there at least omnce a month. To see and enjoy the sights for most of the Zoo on foot should require 4-6 hours

The Prado is one of about a dozen quite diverse restaurants owned by the Cohn Restaurant Group (They have also taken over operation of the Tea Room outside the Balboa Park's Japanese Garden). Kemo Sabe (in Hillcrest) and Indigo Grill (in Little Italy) are two of our faves in all of SD, and both are "cheffed" by Cohn's partner in those two (as well as C Level on Harbor Island), the inestimable Deborah Scott.
Back to The Prado. It is in the central part of the Museums sector of Balboa Park, entered from the courtyard of the House of Hospitality. It has a main dining room, a garden-like terrace to the south (overlooking a popular wedding spot), inner courtyard drinks-and-appetizers seating, and a banquet room where the niece of a friend of ours will have her wedding reception in August.
It is a neat, somewhat upscale but not necessarily dressy restaurant. We stop there frequently for a terrace lunch or a light meal after an afternoon performance at the Old Globe theaters.
