My husband and I will be going to NO in early December. I would appreciate any recommendations for restaurants. Who has the best food, particularly Creole, French and seafood?

There is a resteraunt in the French Quarter (on Bourbon or just off) called Desire. All the food was good but the shrimp remoulade and the bread pudding are to die for. There is a little seafood place called Messina's in the Quarter that look's like a dive but it has really good food. It's been there since, maybe the 30's so it must have something going for it. Have fun.

I've been to Messina's and agree the food was great and reasonably priced. There is another place called the Camilia Grill. It located on the St. Charles trolly at a curve just past the Zoo and park. It is on your left going up St. Charles. The ride to the place is fun and interesting, and the place itself is unique. It is an old fashioned diner with counters and waiters/cooks to serve you. The chili-cheeze omlet it to die for. This is a breakfast/lunch type place. Don't forget Cafe Dumond. Hickory coffee and french benets (bad spelling)its a New Orleans must. Have fun, we always have.

I can't imagine a trip to New Orleans without at least one meal at Commander's Palace, preferably a jazz brunch. Galatoire's is also a wonderful restaurant that's been around for decades and just recently started taking reservations. K-Paul's is another good bet...there are lots and lots of great restaurants and everyone has his/her favorite.

I second the suggestion about K-Paul's. For French, I would recommend the recently re-opened Peristyle (call now for reservations). For seafood, that depends on what you want - fried shrimp, raw oysters, grilled something or other in a sauce?? Redfish Grill might be a good place to try all three. They have a big selection and the prices are reasonable. I'd recommend Mother's for a shrimp po-boy or Uglesich's on a Friday for fried seafood. Mandina's on Friday also has good fried seafood. Bon Ton is another good place for local food - great turtle soup. Mr. B's has great BBQ shrimp and chicken and andouille gumbo. ENJOY!

Generally, avoid Bourbon street. MOst place are overpriced and oversauced and people coming away saying I spent $15 for rice and beans!!! One exception is MIke Andersons, has good seafood and creole fare, but it is oversauced If you want reasonably priced good food go outside the Quarter; Ugelisch's which is uptown (lunch only), Mandinas, which is way up canal street, Mother's at the corner of Magazine and Poydras; Casemento's uptown on Magazine. For a WONDERFUL experience, more expensive -- entrees 12-20 -- go to Jacque Imos in the Riverbend. Best food around. For upscale, Commanders or NOLAs. Email me if you want more specific suggestions. I would recommend picking up a Zagats for New Orleans.

Hands down, Bayona. Early reservations a must.
