New Orleans - Looking for Romantic Hotel

Time to get away and rekindle romance with my husband. Any suggestions on a romantic place to stay in the french quarters, preferably with balcony. I was told that the Sainte Helene was nice. . . . any advise? Thank you!

Do have a price range in mind and an idea of when you might be visiting? Do you want a B&B or a big hotel? I'd recommend something in the lower Quarter (closer to Esplanade than Canal) since it's quieter. If you can give me more info, I'd be happy to make some specific suggestions.

Pepper, NEVER say "Quarters". Just "French Quarter!"

check out the B&Bs of New Orleans website, www.bbnola.com. About 40 B&Bs in all parts of the city (including the FQ area) are listed.

By the way, the St. Helene has received mixed reviews lately. I'd keep looking.

Meg, My husband and I will be visiting New Orleans the middle of October. Travelhero.com has confirmed availability of a large suite at the Hotel Sainte Helene in the French Quarter. Price isn't a concern (to a degree). I'm looking for a room/suite with balcony that has a lot of charm. My husband doesn't take the time to get away very often so I would like it to be a memorable experience. Any advise will be welcomed. Thank you!

I don't personally know anything about the St. Helene, but I'd take John's word on the place. Don't cancel your reservation there until you have something else lined up (if you are interested in looking elsewhere). October is a busy month. Rates go up and the crowds come in. Other places I'd check for out for a romance week-end include: Melrose Mansion, Soniat House, Maison de Ville, and maybe Lafitte Guesthouse.
