New Orleans in December

My boyfriend and I are considering a few days in New Orleans between christmas and new years. We were wondering however if the weather is going to be really miserable that time of year.
I have wanted to go to New Orleans for a long time, but don't want to risk spending the whole trip wishing we had waited until Spring!

I went there in mid-January last year. It was much colder than I thought. Actually it was almost 50 degrees but felt like 30 with the humidity...the damp cold just goes right through you, esp. when you're walking around outside all day. After we went out and bought gloves, hats, scarves & turtlenecks we felt much better. If you're prepared, you should be fine! I think it beats walking around in hot, heavy air. Enjoy New Orleans, it's a really fun city!

I was in New Orleans for a few days for New Year's Eve in 2000. I wore short-sleeve shirts and long-sleeve shirts, but didn't ever need a coat or even a sweater. Maybe our weather was an anomaly, but it was mild and very pleasant!

stayed between Xmas and New Years 2003. Weather was in 70s, drizzled one day. Hotels reasonably priced then, but jump up considerably (double) just before New Years Eve. Definitely stay in or very close to the Quarter.

I did NO a couple of years ago around December 10 and it was very comfortable, no jackets..golf weather.

Besides if you imbibe enough, you don't really notice anything, weather or otherwise.
