What are your favorite foods and drink in New Orleans?

Seafood Gumbo
Red Beans &Rice
Pralines
Muffulettas
Gelato
Oysters
Cafe Au Lait
PoBoys
Greens and field peas
Corn bread
Pecan pie
Garlic shrimp and grits

Well, for Café au Lait (and beignets) you absolutely must go to Café du Monde. It's against the law to go anywhere else. (obviously!!)

Commander's Palace for lunch would cover: Oysters, Gumbo, Shrimp & grits, and Pecan Pie. Also: 25 cent martinis!!!!

You can add jambalaya with both shrimp and andouile sausage.

Chickory Shake at Sobou

The bread pudding souffle at Commander's Palace. Chargrilled oysters at Drago's. Tagliatelle with rabbit & porcini mushroom at Donenica. Lamb neck at Herbsaint.

crawfish etouffe

Sorry - don;t care for many of the other "specialties".

And I only drink wine - or a rare campari and soda outdoors in the summer.

If you drink alcohol: Try a Lemon Drop at the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone.

The Carousel bar is a good place to go, regardless-you can always have a Coke or some such thing.

Central Grocery on Decatur St(up the street from Cafe du Monde)
for their fabulous muffuletta sandwiches. One can also purchase their olive salad spread.

Second for the muffaletta from Central Grocery!

I tried turtle soup just to say I did. It really wasnt' great.
