New Orleans Dog Friendly Motel?

We have a 5 pound dog, so we are looking for safe, reasonbly priced motel/hotel in or near FQ, CBD, or Garden District that allows small dogs. We arrive in New Orleans June 29 for two nights. We will have our own car. In the alternative, can you recommend a local dog boarding facility near the French Quarter or Warehouse District. As far as lodging, we are looking for clean and comfortable, not ritzy. Chain motels s are fine with us -- we aren't looking for a boutique type place. We have been to New Orleans many times, but never with our dog, so we never had to worry about that aspect before. Thanks.

Thanks Austin, but I already checked out the pets welcome web site before I posted here. I am looking for advice from posters who are actually familiar with the various properties.

We found a rate of $89. per night at the Drury Inn, which allows dogs. For that rate, we can have a suite with comp breakfast. Anyone familiar with th Drury Inn? It is at 820 Poydras.

Sorry it is me again. I am considering the Drury Inn on Poydras, the French Quarter Courtyard on North Rampart, and the Royal Sonesta. It will be my elderly parents and me, so if we don't have a suite, we will need two rooms. The suite rate of $89. at the Drury Inn is certainly attractive. The French Quarter Courtyard is about $70. per night, and the Royal SOnesta about $99. per night. Any comments on these properties?

Royal Sonesta is in a class ahead of Drury (2 star) and FQ Ctyd (1 star). If they take dogs, RS is my choice!!

I should add that Drury is a hike from the French Quarter. Your elderly parents may not be able to walk it. The Sonesta is in the heart of things.

Royal Sonesta, hands down, if they allow pets. It is a beautiful hotel and a great central location. I think the Hotel Royal (Royal/St Philip) might be pet friendly too. I remember reading something about their resident cats. I think! *{JAMIE}*

Definitely the ROYAL SONESTA- but get it in writing DIRECT from the hotel, that they accept pets and what the pet fee is....

I have found, travelling with a small dog, that there is a daily charge for the dog and sometimes they require them to be caged....

Hotel Monaco (on St. Charles, 1 block down from Poydras) is another suggestion. They cater to puppies! I think it's fairly pricey, but they might have summer specials.

If RS will let you bring your dog, that's probably your best bet.

I ditto AnneO's suggestion of Hotel Monaco. They are very pet-friendly, in the heart of everything, and because summer is the low season here, you can probably get a pretty good rate, maybe at last-minute prices. Drury Inn is too far off the beaten track for my tastes. They have a website - do a search for more info and rates. Royal Sonesta is fine but I think Monaco would be a better bet.
