New Orleans - Chateau Motor Hotel

Does anyone have an info on the Chateau Hotel in the French Quarter of N.O.? Heard it's got an okay location, but would like to know more. Thanks.

Checked it out several times and almost stayed there once. Excellent location close to everything although on the 'other' side of the quarter. Looks like a 'motor inn' but the rooms looked fine and also away from the noise of Bourbon Street. Priced at under$100.00 per nite in the hi 60's I think...they handle reservations thru a gen # 1-800-394-3295 good luck.

Thanks, Al. I feel a little better about our choice now. We're booked here from Dec. 28th to Jan. 2. Can't wait!

Stacey, when you get back from NO, could you place a post as to how you liked the Chateau? We have also considered staying there.

Stacey: Chateau Hotel is certainly not The Ritz but is an excellent choice for those of us who can't afford The Ritz. Good location, especially for New Years. Only a few steps from the madness of New Years in the Quarter (if you want to join in all the revelry), but far enough removed if you want take a breather from the crowd. Best of all, you will have a place to use the bathroom if you have too (a good thing to have in the Quarter at peak party time). With the money you save by staying at the Chateau, why don't you go across the street and indulge yourselves with a dinner at Irene's. Arguably, one of the best restaurants in N.O. in the opinion of many of us locals and better yet, they DON'T take reservations. Everybody is equal, first come first serve. Enjoy your stay, le bon temps roule.

Thank you to everyone for your words of wisdom. I'll let you know how we like the Chateau when we get home. Will definitely have dinner at Irene's - hopefully on New Year's Eve! Stacey
