Take the streetcar to Camillia (sp?)Grill. Absolutely down home and Southern. You sit at the counter. They are famous for their pecan waffles.

The best place in the French Quarter to have breakfast(and inexpensively)is the small restaurant in the back of Le Richeliou (sp?) -->it's a small hotel on the corner of Gov. Nichols and Chartres St. Another notable "local" breakfast spot in the quarter is Le Croissant --wonderful pastries! After living there 6 years I should know!

Hey El, did you EVER live here? Croissant d'or is the place you're referring to. Also, what restaurant at Le Richelieu?

Camellia Grill. It is so good and exactly what you are talking about. You will never forget it. And it's not expensive.

If you have a sweet tooth, try the Pecan Pie after your breakfast. mmmm.

Hey xxx, at the back of le Richelieau the bar has a few tables and they serve breakfast and lunch. The breakfast really is good.

Try the Quarter Scene restaurant at 900 Dumaine @ Dauphine St. While they are open all day, they are more known for breakfast.

Although I was only a tourist, it seemed like most of the other patrons were locals. From what I read, it has been around for quite some time.

hey no such thing as ONLY a tourist dawlin. Us New Orleanians rely on y'all to boost our economy & we thank ya bay! And I 3rd Camellia Grill but be prepared to stand in line (in the slight heat & humidity) to get in...as for best homemade biscuits - Popeye's will always be my favorite!!!

We all have different views one person's overpriced tourist, the Court of 2 Sisters for Brunch, is another person's delight.

I know some people love it. I was unimpressed (except by the $50+ check.)
