New Orleans

Need help deciding which hotel to stay in. Group of 5 meeting for a fun relaxing weekend. We like nice accomodations close to the action and safe. I have reservatins at the Fairmont, Windsor Court, Royal Sonesta, and was considering the Hotel Monteleone. Please offer your choice

I've stayed at the Windsor Court and Royal Sonesta and much prefer the latter. While the Windsor Court is a beautiful hotel, it's very subdued and somewhat staid...not at all like New Orleans! The rooms in the Royal Sonesta aren't as big as the Windsor Court, but the public areas are busy and very lively and festive. In my opinion, that's much more fun than high tea at the Windsor Court!

Last time I stayed at Monteleone my room had GREEN SHAG carpeting. I'd ask about the last time they renovated before booking!!!

If you are a group meeting in New Orleans, you should consider a B&B. Take a look at www.bbnola.com.

we just returned yesterday from a weekend in new orleans. i would suggest the hotel le meridien on canal street. first rate hotel in a great location, right across the street from the french quarter. both the sonesta and the monteleone are in the quarter and might be noisy at night. (but do go to the restaurant "desire" at the sonesta for their gumbo.) the windsor court is truly a beautiful hotel but we (10 of us) really liked le meridien.

We were a little disappointed with the Fairmont. It sounds too dead for your fun group! Monteleone was great as it is a little more lively. Don't miss the carousel bar downstairs.
