New Mexico

We are considering a trip to New Mexico for one week to 2 weeks. We have been going to palm desert for the last few years but need a change. We are in our early 60s and like to hike, golf and enjoy music shows. we would love to get ideas on places to stay and the best time of year to go. We really want to avoid crowds and the heat so were thinking October or April/May. We would love to hear if people think there is enough to do for 2 weeks and any suggestions on places to stay.
Thanks

Taos might be an option. It has two golf courses and several hiking trails nearby. It has the historic Taos Plaza and nearby is Taos Pueblo. Probably enough to do/see for a week. https://taos.org/explore/landmarks/ https://www.vacationtaos.com/AboutTaos/Hiking.html

Another option is Sedona, AZ. It is the self-proclaimed Day Hike Capital of America and has many trails. It has scenic Oak Creek Canyon and some great restaurants. Nearby are golf courses.
