On LBI (Beach Haven) my recipe for rainy day is family book/puzzle/game day in the rental house and indoor pool swimming at the local rec center, broken up by run on the beach when the rain lets up. Kids never seem to mind a drizzle as long as they can run on the beach and look for shells and chase the gulls.

I've looked into the 'drive somewhere for rainy destination' but by the time haven't found anything worthy of 1-2hr drive each way.

I actually love mini-golf in the rain. I'm not made of sugar (not literally, at least) so I don't worry much about melting and even better, there are never any lines.
