Family Reunion Mid-Atlantic Area
Hello,
My family, including about 4 family groups, and a few singles, would like to spend a week this summer at a resort on the Atlantic seaboard, last week of June preferably. Can anyone suggest a favorite place where they may have done this? Grandma is 86 and youngest is 11. About 15 people in total. would like to be near the beach, if possible.
Thanks for your help.

We did this last year in the outer banks. there are several houses to rent that will accomodate that size group, and the homes range from modest to ultra luxurious, it all depends on what you are willing to spend. many on the beach, many just off the beach. I recommend Corolla, it is very family oriented, the beaches are great and I would do it every year!!! bring your bikes and boogy boards

I don't know, I am sort of weather immune, I would ask these people what they would do anywhere else in bad weather (they probably won't have a good answer), bad weather would hinder any summer vacation since they primarily involve outdoor activities. the houses are big enough that you won't feel claustrophobic with all 15 inside waiting out a T-storm. there are movie theaters, we would watch movies, cook extravagant dinners/lunches, play games,...........we had outstanding weather the entire week there 80-87 every day no rain. just don't go after 8/10 (high season for hurricanes)

You might try looking into Rehoboth Beach DE or Dewey beach (not certain if its DE or MD) but they're both quite nice and some of the beach homes are pretty large.
One year we went through a realtor and booked two houses (side by side) and it worked out well.
Good luck and have a great time!!

fran, joe bob is so right! We've been doing family reunions for ages, anywhere from 14 to 30 of us, and the best times have always been in a single house - and the outer banks have the best of the best. We've tried Litchfield (several condos beachfront), cruises (too expensive for those with kids), Maggie Valley (several cabins), and we always come back to those gorgeous oceanfront homes with pools, spas, pool tables, video libraries, huge kitchens...and everybody in one house. The only issue is grandma - most of the homes are stilts, with living room and kitchens on the third floor, so she'll be staying put depending on her agility, but my 70-something parents do fine (nobody lets 'em carry anything up those steps!). Check Sun Realty, you can search by number of br's...the prices change every 3-6 weeks - end of June will be pretty close to prime rate, but it's worth it! Have fun!
