New Jersey instate road trip with over night stay...

My husband and I want to take an instate road trip with an over night stay. We live in Watchung, New Jersey. I am embarrassed to say but besides Cape May and Asbury Park, we have no idea where else we can go... any suggestions from fellow NJ-iens are appreciated! We love the beach, museums, eating out, not so much shopping, and bar scene. Thank you!

Jersey City for Liberty Park and the 911 memorial? Add a Statue of Liberty cruise?

Princeton for the University Art Museum?

Any city on the Jersey shore. My favorite is Ocean City, (between Atlantic City and Cape May). It is very family friendly and did not suffer much from Sandy. But every shore town is fun in its own way.

Princeton is a good non-beach suggestion. Another fun town is Lambertville, NJ. Lots of antique shops and restaurants, and you can walk across the bridge to New Hope, PA which also has lots of funky stores and eateries.

Lambertville & New Hope is a great suggestion for a weekend getaway. Plenty to do and see...enough to keep you busy for 2 days: museums, fun boutiques, boat rides, great outdoor dining, bike rental for biking along the Delaware River, a playhouse, nice spas, drop-in Budhist meditation sessions, coffee shops, a great flea market, and loads of art galleries and antiques. Plus if you need to cool off during the heat of the day...you can always go tubing on the river!

Oh, one thing about Lambertville & New Hope...they have fireworks every Friday night during the summer.
