How funny. Put the required : between August and Osage and you get the emoticon I got above!

I loved Gypsy too. But then, I love anything with Patti Lupone.

Poolqueen,

Just a view from a solo female traveller.

I rented an apartment on the upper east side and wandered all over the place using subways, buses and taxis. Often I walked a few blocks to & from dinner - occasionally quite late - and always felt perfectly safe.

Like Patrick, it never occurs to me to feel any other way. Why would it? There are zillions of locals doing the same thing. I just do as I would at home - and of course, don't go walking through Central Park or down dark alleys at midnight. No matter where you are, you just need to use common sense and keep your antenna up, IMHO.

Thanks for your support. We love the city and need to leave our comfort zone.

Will let you know how the trip goes.

I posted my trip report but wanted to let you know that the two plays you suggested were phenomenal.

Hope you are planning to go back next year as well.

All the best to you and Lee.

That's it. And yes, he only rents by the month. Although surprisingly it is not yet rented for December of this year (although it IS rented for December of 2009 as well as almost that year). I suppose you could check, but don't think he'll rent other than for a month.

Irene, QUITE by accident (really) I came across another listing for a studio apt. in the same building. I have no knowledge of it or owner. Procede with caution if you do purse it. Just know there are loads of apt. scams in NYC but the photos look legit and it's a Long Island telephone number.

I don't like the fact that they don't show the bed or mention whether it's a real bed or a sofabedm but thought you might be interested.

Hi Starrs!

When will you be going to NYC? Mom and I are making a "return" trip for another "Mega-musical" weekend in early November. We're seeing Billy Elliot, Gypsy and Chicago and I'm happy to say we snagged discount tickets for all the performances we wanted through Playbill.com.

I've already booked all our restaurants through Open Table and using NeoPatrick's recommendations. We will be trying Roberto Passon this time around!

I was sincere.

But another flip response....

But just like Sox tickets, swag from Cher and your other favorites and a few personal backstage tours to Wicked and RockCenter have just been pulled from my Christmas list.

Alas by any other name.
