NEEDS HELP WITH EXCURSIONS!!

OK, I'm going on an Alaska Royal Caribbbean cruise in July, and we're stopping in Juneau and Skagway. We need help with which excursions to pick, is the eagle one good? Which glacier or animal ones are the best? Thanks

Whale watching is superb out of Juneau, close to 100% sightings of humpbacks. Eagles are possible to see anywhere. You will see them out of Haines, just not in the numbers of the brochures. This takes significant time away from Skagway determine what your priorities are?? A glacier helicopter landing is a top choice.

We did the Alaskan cruise last June with Royal Carribean. In Juneau, we went whale watching with Captain Larry - it was awesome. In Skagway we did the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari, which was also great, but cold. In Ketchikan, we went snorkelling with Mountain Point Snorkel Alaska. The snorkelling was the best excursion we did. Hope this helps, enjoy your trip.

I'm still tryin to decide whether to take the ferry from Prince Rupert to Skayway or drive via the Alcan. If we drive, we defintely will do the White Pass/Yukon rail trip, but which would be a better additional trip: the Fjord Express to Juneau or the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari?

I also hope to do the Kenai Fjords (either the 6 1/2 or 9 hrs.) and hopefully, a boat/kayak/hike trip in Valdez if this makes any difference in your choice. Or maybe you would recommend that we skip Skagway altogether?

Hopefully, we will see Denali, Talkeetna, McCarthy/Endicott, Girdwood, Palmer, Seward, Homer. I am working up a tentative itinerary and will post it for advice soon.

Thanks

If you want all those locations, you need plenty of time. If you can, do it, you have a lot of great touring options included. Post your proposed itineraries, the key is to keep refining and refining.

lyntom, there's not much to do in Skagway. The downtown area can be exhausted in about an hour. You could ride the train, which we didn't. We rented a car and drove into the Yukon. It had beautiful sceneries here, but not sure it's worth a stop in Skagway.

Thanks. That's just the kind of advice I'm looking for.
