Need your Recommendations in Snow Canyon and Valley of Fire

We just made a decision to visit Zion again in April; it's our favorite National Park. We'll fly into Las Vegas, rent a car, and possibly head to Valley of Fire, as we've never been there. Our plan would be to spend the night in St. George and go to Snow Canyon the next day, do something else the third day and then head to Zion.

We know little about Snow Canyon and Valley of Fire, but we do enjoy walking and hiking. Does anyone have recommendations for things to do, walks to take in these parks? Places to stay? Where to eat? We'd appreciate any information/tips/recommendations. Thanks!

Valley of Fire and Snow Canyon are great state parks. It's been a while since we've been to both, but each are very do-able in a day. Valley of Fire has some petroglyphs not far from the campground.

If you have an extra day before reaching Zion, you might want to check out the Kolob Section of Zion between St. George and Cedar City just off Interstate 15.

Thanks, Utahtea. We've been to Kolob Canyon twice and do plan to spend some time there again on this trip ( 9 days).
Do you have any specific trails to recommend in Snow Canyon or Valley of Fire?
Where to stay in the St. George area? (I know there are alot of motels - we just like to find that special one with the ambiance of the area).

Valley of Fire is just a little over an hour from Vegas, so is an easy day trip from there. You can camp there and I think you need to go through the Nevada state park system for a site. You just go north on I-15 a way and keep an eye out for the sign for VoF. You will be on the Moappa (sp)reservation I think. There is a gas station and convenience store where you get off the interstate but no food in the park, so take a picnic. Do hike up to mouse's tank, there are hundreds of petroglyphs on the rocks on the left side of the path on the way in.

UtahTea, nice to see you posting again I was FainaAgain.

I took a bus tour from Vegas to the Valley of Fire. We stopped at a restaurant by Lake Mead for lunch. Is this lake on your way? It's a nice place. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the restaurant, only the view of the lake - reminded of Lake Tahoe.

Appreciate the replies. Am topping again in case this post catches anyone else's eye. For awhile we thought of going to Bryce as well, but too much snow for hiking.

Any recommendations for lodging or interesting stops near St. George or on the way from Las Vegas/Valley of Fire/St. George to Zion? Thanks.
