Need very inexpensive winter months in Florida

Does anyone know of anywhere in Florida you could spend February and March for very little money (approx. $1500 per month). I want something very modest like Florida used to look. Cottage or something like that. Possibly on water.

Do you mean $1500/month for everything or just for lodging?

If it's just for lodging, check out the VRBO site. You should have no trouble finding something small for that price.

If you are over 50, you can rent a trailer in Tropical Haven in Melbourne. It is south of NASA BLVD just south of the airport.

Between $1000 and 1300 just for lodging. I think that I have found something at Sea Side, Florida. What do you think

Don't expect it to be very warm in Sea Side in Feb and March.

It is about in the 50s. Sunny but cool---you get a good rental rate because that is their low season. I love that area Seaside, Seagrove, and Grayton Beach. These are considered the Beaches of 30A. Golfing, biking, walking the beach---but no swinmming that time of year.

My dad rents a mobile home in Marathon for $1000/mo.

We stay in Cape San Blas during the winter months. It is laid back, no high rises, between Port St Joe and Apalachicola Florida. It is Old Time Florida. It is called the Forgotten Coast. The weather is 50's and 60's. Not as warm as further south but a lot warmer than Ohio and no snow and lots of sun. We stay right on the gulf with water views from every window and just steps to the water. You can find a beach house in your price range on the gulf side (they also have a bay side but I don't recommend that as you are across the street and it's a long walk to the ocean) The Peninsula is only 18 miles long with a State Park at the end. You have to do your grocery shopping in Port St Joe 15 miles away as the peninsula only has two small stores for things like bread and milk. Check out VRBO and if you find something you like they will give a good rate for 2 or so months. http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals.../cape-san-blas
