Need to choose between these 4 hotels for Memorial Day Wknd??
My husband and I are planning to spend memorial day weekend (3 nights total) in NYC, and are trying to decide between the following hotels:
The Lucerne (rate $160.00 per night)
(Someone suggested we stay in the upper west side for change of pace, and scenery)
Red Roof Inn (rate $359.97 for 3 nights)
Travel Inn ($125.00 per night)
Belvedere Hotel ($144.00 per night)
We have been to NYC several times over the past 10 years, but of course, still have plenty of NYC to explore.
We would like to stay in a nice area, where are a plenty of bars, restaurants, and attractions, but also centrally located to Times Square (at least within able to take public transporation to and from.)
Thanks

Try the upper west side -- great restaurants and lots of character. It's a short taxi ride to midtown or a few blocks walk to the subway. On www.quikbook, you'll find some good deals on The Lucerne and The Excelsior.

louise, aren't you the one that posted that highly controversial hit and run post about South Carolina, the Confederate Flag, and never posted on the topic again?
Out of the four hotels you picked, I would pick in this order: the Lucerne (I like the UWS), the Belvedere, and tie the Travel Inn and Red Roof Inn. I think the location of the Red Roof Inn is a little better (closer to transportation) than the Travel Inn. The Travel Inn does have free parking and an indoor pool if that matters.

Lucerne would be my first choice. Meets your requirements - more than 25 restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk. 10 minutes by subway, one block away, to TImes Square. Less than 10 minute walk to Natural History museum. Central Park less than a 10 minute walk . Metropolitan Museum of Art is 20 minute walk or less than 10 minute bus ride. Bus stop is across the street from the hotel. Lincoln Center is 15 minute walk or about a less than 10 minute bus ride.
