Well Naples is not exactly the Mexican food capital of the world, you know. Actually I love the food, plain and simple but quite authentic at The Hammock. It's a little place on Goodlette Road, just north of Fifth Avenue. On the left going north, sort of in front and beyond the huge, but almost derelict Grand Central Station complex.
A lot of people love Flaco's on the north trail. I love their salsa and chips, but after that everything I've gotten there tastes the same.
I've not yet been to Cilantro Tamales, on 41 north in a strip shopping center right across from P.F. Changs. I've tried twice but P. F. Changs always calls to me first. Friends love Cilantro Tamales, though.

If your travels ever take you to Fort Myers, we have a really superb Mexican restaurant on the Bell Tower shopping grounds. Cantina Laredo is a lovely restaurant and its owner/manager said they aspire for it to be like a 4* restaurant in Mexico City. They prepare the guacamole table side like the old traditional preparation of a ceasar salad.

They do a great Snapper Vera Cruz and the best Chile Rellenos with picadillo filling. It is by far the best mexican restaurant I have encountered in Florida. LMF

LilMsFoodie, what interesting information. It is amazing how long it's been since I've ventured all the way north to Ft. Myers. This is the second place you've recently mentioned at Bell Tower, a place I haven't been since Jacobson's left. Considering the current traffic between Naples and Ft. Myers, do you think I'll need a hotel for the night in Ft. Myers if I go? LOL

Re: Bell Tower....the Jacobson's will soon be a Fresh Market, something we desparately need here and another interesting wine based restaurant called : CRU,

Bell Tower has become a central point for Fort Myers not unlike 5th Avenue or 3rd St. South in Naples. It is concentrated in an open air shopping center however.
